IPOH – A small packet of biscuits may seem ‘small’ to some people, but it can mean a lot to others.
Recognising that some schoolchildren may go hungry while waiting for the end of the school day, an initiative to distribute biscuits has been carried out.
A total of 1,500 packs of biscuits were distributed free of charge to students at three schools through the Biscuit Distribution Tour Programme in the Tambun parliamentary constituency.
The programme was organised by the Chairman of the Pertubuhan Proaktif Rakyat Parlimen Tambun, Kalaimughilan Arjunan, to assist students from financially struggling families.

According to Kalaimughilan, some students either do not eat or eat only small amounts at home due to their families’ financial constraints.
Therefore, the free distribution of biscuits is hoped to help ease their burden, particularly by providing a light snack before or after school sessions.
He said the initiative would be expanded to more schools in the Tambun area.
“We plan to organise a similar programme at least once a month, in stages.
“This effort is also aimed at ensuring that the welfare and basic needs of children from underprivileged families continue to receive attention,” he said.

Kalaimughilan said his organisation would seek support from various parties to ensure that the programme could be continued consistently.
The programme is expected to become one of the ongoing efforts by Pertubuhan Proaktif Rakyat Parlimen Tambun to assist those in need.
