IPOH – Construction of the new Perak Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) complex is progressing smoothly, with various related matters being actively implemented.
Recently, the Ministry of Works completed the handover of the Letter of Acceptance (SST) and the appointment of the Superintendent of Works for the Perak IPK and Housing Construction Project.
The ceremony was officiated by the Minister of Works Dato’ Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi at the ministry in Kuala Lumpur.
Also present were Public Works Department Director-General Dato’ Ir. Ibrahim Esa; Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) Senior Assistant Secretary (Development), Jafrizul Jamhari; and Perak Deputy Chief of Police, DCP Mohammad Azlin Sadari.

The RM366 million project will be implemented over a period of 42 months and is expected to be completed by February 2030.
The new Perak IPK complex will be developed on a 25-acre site next to the Sultan Azlan Shah Roundabout in Bandar Meru here.
The construction is crucial as the existing Perak IPK building is already 58 years old, besides being in a dilapidated condition and no longer economically viable for comprehensive refurbishment.

The new complex will bring together IPK offices within a single area to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen administration and control, and facilitate service delivery to the public.
In terms of operational effectiveness, the project targets a 5% reduction in the crime index annually, as well as an improvement in police response time from 15 minutes to 10 minutes.
The provision of 84 residential quarters will also increase the proportion of personnel residing in quarters from zero to 6.7% of the total 1,261 positions.
