TAIPING: The irresponsible disposal of fish waste into drains could obstruct water flow and potentially contribute to flash floods in the area.
The Taiping Municipal Council (MPT) stressed that traders should properly manage their business waste and ensure their trading areas are thoroughly cleaned after business hours.
The large amount of fish waste also produces a foul odour and attracts pests such as rats and flies.
“Dumping fish waste, food waste, plastic or any other waste materials into drains is unacceptable and can increase the risk of stagnant water and flooding.
“Besides polluting the environment and affecting the image of the night market area, do not wait until the drains become clogged or smelly. Our waste, our responsibility,” it said.
