IPOH: The plight of a mother and daughter living in poverty in a house in Northward, Tanjung Rambutan, has drawn the attention of the Ipoh City Council (MBI) Chief Whip of Councillors, Datuk Mazlan Abd Rahman.
What is particularly heartbreaking is that the house, which should have been a place of shelter, lacked a toilet and proper bathing facilities.
According to Mazlan, the dilapidated house is occupied by a single mother and her daughter, who is unable to work as she has to care for her mother.
After making several visits to the family and providing assistance, Mazlan said a toilet and bathroom had finally been fully completed for their convenience.
“Previously, I visited this family living in hardship in Northward, Tanjung Rambutan, after receiving a complaint through my social media platform.
“The single mother lives with her daughter, who is unemployed as she has to care for her sick mother, who is unable to walk.
“Besides providing food box assistance, I looked into what I could do to help improve the condition of their home and meet the family’s needs.
“Finally, today I was able to see for myself that the toilet and bathing area, which they previously did not have, have now been fully completed.
“I still remember the condition of this family when I first came here. Their house lacked even the most necessities. Today, seeing that they have their own toilet is truly a satisfaction that is difficult to put into words,” he said during a visit to the house.
He also expressed his appreciation to an individual who had helped him provide the toilet for the family.
“Once again, thank you to the individual who was willing to help me in providing a toilet for this family. Without his assistance, it might have taken much longer for this to become a reality.
“I also noticed a rotten tree behind the house, which could pose a danger to the family. Insya-Allah, I will try to arrange for the tree to be trimmed.
“When we have even a little ability to help, we should not think about whether the assistance is big or small. What matters is that we are making life a little easier for a family,” he said.
