IPOH – Dataran Sunway was transformed into a sea of pink last Saturday as 800 participants took part in the MK Decade Run 2026.
The 5km fun run was organised to celebrate the 10th anniversary of MK Ambulance Service (MK Ambulance).
The event made history as the first of its kind organised by a private ambulance and medical treatment service provider in Malaysia.
As widely known, MK Ambulance is recognised for its distinctive pink ambulances, which are a familiar sight around Ipoh.
Despite the haze that affected Ipoh that week, participants turned up in large numbers, while rain later in the morning helped ease the impact of the haze.
The run, which started at 7.30am, attracted participants from various backgrounds and age groups, including families pushing strollers along the route.
Every participant who completed the run received a finisher’s medal in recognition of their participation.
The excitement continued after the run, with participants joining group Zumba and aerobics sessions.
One of the highlights was a lucky draw offering a variety of attractive prizes.
Participants also had the opportunity to enjoy food and beverages from kiosks set up by the organisers.
A total of 20 booths were set up to enliven the event, including 10 food and beverage stalls.
Visitors also benefited from free health screenings at a medical examination booth provided at the venue.
Meanwhile, MK Ambulance Service founder and owner Mazhar Khadir expressed his gratitude to all parties for their support in making the event a success.
He said the MK Decade Run 2026 was not merely a running event but also an opportunity to strengthen ties between MK Ambulance and the local community.
At the same time, it aimed to raise public awareness about the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle and undergoing regular health screenings.
“This inaugural running event organised by MK Ambulance will not end here.
“We plan to make it an annual event, with next year’s edition set to be bigger and more special,” he said.
