Lively Celebration Despite Haze

The haze did not hamper the state-level 52nd Malaysia Day celebration at Indera Mulia Stadium, Ipoh one bit on the night of Tuesday, September 15.

Guest-of-honour Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri DiRaja Dr Zambry Abd Kadir and his wife, Datin Seri DiRaja Saripah Zulkifli were ushered with LED-lighted trishaws and vintage bicycles upon their arrival.

People from all walks of life were given goodie bags each containing snacks, a glow bracelet, a face mask (for the haze) and miniature Jalur Gemilang.

The evening programme included a galore of non-stop performances consisting of a battle of the drums, multi-cultural performances, flash mobs, songs by Caliph Buskers and singers from PORT (People of Remarkable Talent) culminating in a collective rendition of Jalur Gemilang and the much-awaited fireworks display.

Dato’ Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi, the Executive Councillor for Tourism, Arts, Culture, Multimedia and Communications, thanked the crowd for turning up in numbers to usher in the auspicious day in spite of the haze.
