Ramadan, being a holy and sacred month for Muslims, is also a time for family and friends to gather and bond. In tandem with the fasting month, Coca-Cola along with its partners, organised a buka puasa dinner for 86 orphans from Pertubuhan Badan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim Darussalam and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Yatim/Miskin Dahikmah on Saturday, May 26 at Mydin Meru Raya.
After organising a similar event the previous year, they were intent on carrying it out again, but on a larger scale. Support from partners such as Astro and Marrybrown ensured the success of the event.
The children gathered at the venue as early as 6pm, as they were treated to several performances with the one from The Lost World of Tambun winning most approval all around.
A sense of unity was present throughout the event. The staff and children were engrossed in conversation despite them only getting to know each other on the day, embracing the true spirit of Ramadan.
Finas Wani Zin, the Head of Public Affairs and Communication of Coca Cola Malaysia said that it was important to value the community. “Coca-cola may be a global brand, but we’re as local as the community we serve. If we don’t give it back to them, who else do we give it back to? It is very important for us to stay connected,” stressed Finas.
Coca-Cola hopes to carry on organising similar events after receiving an overwhelming response from partners who were willing to help.
