PKRC at the Ipoh Badminton Arena Officially Closes

The Low Risk Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centre (PKRC) at the Kinta District Badminton Arena in Ipoh was officially closed on Wednesday.

It had been operating for more than 2 years beginning 28 November 2020.

Executive Councillor for Health, Science, Environment and Green Technology, Mohd Akmal Kamaruddin said the PKRC at the Ipoh Badminton Arena was the last one to close.

“This is following a decrease in the number of admission of Covid-19 positive patients to PKRC as most of them undergo self quarantine at home.

“On behalf of the state government, we would like to apologise for any shortcomings throughout the operation of the PKRC,” he said via a recent Facebook post.

He also thanked the Ministry of Health (KKM), State Health Department and Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) for their contribution.

During the early days of operation, the PKRC of Badminton Arena was equipped with 80 beds each for males and females for the treatment of patients under category one and two.
