Your Data is Our Future

Around 778,000 residential areas in the state, which covers nearly 2.6 million Perakeans, will be involved in the 2020 Census.

According to State Secretary Dato’ Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim in a statement, the 2020 Census will be executed in two phases. 

“The first phase started on July 7 which will last till September 30 using online methods which are e-Census and telephone following the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said. “The second phase lasts from October 7 to 24 via open interviews and overall visit from one house to another.” 

“For the first phase, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) sends out postcards to nationwide selected houses from July 6 to 24,” Ahmad Suaidi added. “Some 210,000 selected houses in the state will receive those postcards from DOSM Perak.” 

With ‘Data Anda Masa Depan Kita’ (Your Data is Our Future) as the theme of the census, will generate comprehensive census findings which covers the needs of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. 

Ahmad Suaidi noted that online filling for the first phase can be done here. Unlisted houses are also encouraged to pre-register for online census filling. 

“Public employees are asked to fill up the information for the 2020 Census via e-Census,” he remarked. “So far, there are 13,313 employees in the state government agency. 

“For more information regarding the 2020 Census, DOSM has prepared a Census hotline at 1-800-88-7720, while the hotline for Perakeans in the state is 1-800-88-5032,” Ahmad Suaidi mentioned. “Perakeans may also go to the Census’ official portal or search for @MyCensus2020 on social media platforms.”
