MySejahtera Update for Breastfeeding Mothers and Pregnant Women

A new feature on the MySejahtera app now enables pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers to update their status or register for vaccination.

Coordinating Minister for the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK), Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said that their appointments will be based on the vaccine that is suitable for them at a particular vaccination centre (PPV).

“You can enter the month and year of delivery or breastfeeding status,” he said via Twitter.

Khairy said in a media conference that vaccination is recommended for pregnant women in their 14th to 33th weeks as well as nursing mothers. In addition, he also advised them to consult their doctors before getting the COVID-19 vaccination.

The Pfizer vaccine is suitable for both breastfeeding mothers and expectant mothers, while AstraZeneca is recommended for lactating mothers.

“The World Health Organisation (WHO) has approved the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine,” he shared in his previous tweet. Hence, all of the three vaccines; Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Sinovac are now officially verified.
