Perak Scavenger X Geo-Wonders Virtual Run 2021 

The state government via Tourism Perak is always working towards spicing up the tourism sector which is impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Tourism Perak CEO, Nurmalis Musa explained that in line with the lifting of the interstate travel ban, various initiatives have been taken to restore tourists’ confidence to visit the state. 

“One of the attractive events is the organisation of Perak Scavenger X Geo-Wonders Virtual Run 2021 which begins from October 20 till November 20 at several tourist hotspots around Perak.

“This virtual sports event is held in conjunction with the third anniversary celebration of Kinta Valley Geopark which is celebrated on October 25 every year,” she said via a virtual media conference for Perak Scavenger Virtual Run 2021 yesterday (October 22). 

According to her, the organisation of this event is also able to help promote the geosite which focuses on sustainable development and more.

“Among the 17 selected locations are Kellie’s Castle in Batu Gajah, Bagan Datoh, Teluk Intan, Tanjung Tualang Tin Dredge No.5 (TT5), Taman Tasik Taiping and Teluk Batik, Lumut. 

“Other locations include Tambun in Ipoh, Bandar Muallim, Gua Tempurung (Gopeng), Parit 11, Gunung Lang, Lata Ulu Chepor, Gunung Panjang,Gua Batu Giring, Gua Kandu, Kampar and Kuala Kangsar,” she added. 

Participation fee is set at RM30 and participants will be given souvenirs in the form of special edition t-shirts and certificates of participation. 

She shared that the state government is also planning other events throughout November till December 2021 such as the #TravelPerakLah Surfcasting Challenge 2021 which will be held on November 20. 

In the pipeline are the MATTA Fair promotional programme on November 20 to 21, Perak International Sea Challenge 2021 on December 10 to 12, and more.

“The organisation of such events is hoped to revive the domestic tourism sector and indirectly boost the local economy,” she stated.
