IPOH: Nearly a week since it was reported, the condition of the traffic signal pole on Jalan Pengkalan Barat 18 here, which protrudes due to being uncovered, remains the same.
An inspection by Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic today found that no action has been taken to repair the damage or place warning signs.
The tangled electrical wires are a cause for concern as they pose a danger and could potentially lead to fatalities.
Moreover, it is highly unlikely that the authorities are unaware of this situation, as this traffic signal intersection serves as a main route for thousands of vehicles daily.
According to safety practices, every traffic signal pole should have a securely locked cover.
This is because exposed electrical wires can pose a danger to the public, in addition to the risk of electric shock for anyone who touches them.
