Police in Ipoh monitor illegal parking attendants

IPOH: A special operation to curb illegal parking attendants has been carried out by members of the Research/Operations Unit, Traffic Enforcement Division, Investigation and Traffic Enforcement Branch of the Ipoh District Police Headquarters.

The focus was in the city center to restrain this illegal activity.

The operation was conducted in the form of surveillance and prevention based on public complaints regarding ‘Ulat Parkir’ activities in the Ipoh city center area.

The ‘Ulat Parkir’ activity is an offense, and if found guilty, can be charged under Section 50(3) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.

This offense can be punishable under Section 119(2) of the APJ 1987 with a fine of up to RM2,000, imprisonment, or both.

Please note that “Ulat Parkir” is a local term used to describe individuals who operate as unauthorized parking attendants and often demand money from vehicle owners for parking services.
