Decomposed bodies, mossy clothes found in the waters of Pangkor Laut

MANJUNG: A body of unknown identity and gender was found in the waters off Pangkor Laut, Pulau Pangkor last Sunday.

According to the District Police Chief of Manjung, ACP Mohamed Nordin Abdullah, the body was discovered in a decomposed state, wearing blue jeans and a red shirt.

“Last Sunday, the police at Pulai Pangkor Police Station received a phone call from the public about the discovery of the body at 12:18 noon.

“The police from Pulau Pangkor Police Station, along with Marine Police personnel from Kampung Acheh and assistance from the Pangkor Island Fire Department, arrived at the scene at 12:50 noon to confirm the discovery of the body.

“Upon examining the body, wearing blue jeans and a red shirt, the police did not find any identification or the gender of the unidentified deceased,” he said in a statement last night.

He mentioned that based on the condition of the body, which was decomposed, and the clothes covered in moss, it is believed that the body had been in the water for more than two weeks.

Mohamed Nordin said the victim was taken to the Forensic Unit Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun (HRPB) for autopsy to determine the actual cause of death.

He stated that, so far, the case is classified as sudden death.

In connection with this, he said the police are urging the public who has lost family members or has any information to contact the nearest police station or the Manjung District Police Headquarters Operations Room at 05-6886222.
