Industry Leaders Set to Pioneer Sustainable Architecture Practices in Perak

IPOH: The Sustainable Building Forum 2025, held at 1 Lasam today, brought together over 40 industry leaders, professionals, and sustainability advocates to chart the future of green architecture in Perak.

Organized by the Malaysia-China Hakka Business Confederation Association Youth (Perak Branch), the forum provided groundbreaking insights into sustainable building practices under the theme, “Explore the Future of Sustainable Architecture.”

Keynote speakers included prominent industry figures such as Dato Lim Si Boon, Executive Chairman of Bonanza Venture Holdings; Ar Shyuan Kuee, Founder and Principal Architect of Kuee Architecture; and Ir. Dr. Lee Wai Yin, Founder of Leadway Consultancy.

These experts shared their expertise on energy-efficient designs, eco-friendly materials, and innovative construction techniques.

A standout moment was the unveiling of a mockup video showcasing Kuee Architecture’s plans to revamp the facade of the Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh (MBI) Municipal Building.

This initiative aims to address persistent rain seepage and heat issues by incorporating sustainable architectural solutions such as a semi-glass system.

Expected to be completed by 2026, the project marks a significant milestone in the city’s journey toward green architecture, reflecting the government’s commitment to sustainable design.

Ar Shyuan Kuee, the Ipoh-born architect leading the project, expressed her commitment to transforming her hometown into a sustainable city.

“We pledge to support MBI’s goal of achieving low carbon emissions by 2030 by designing as many green buildings as possible across Ipoh,” she said.

Founder and Principal Architect of Kuee Architecture, Ar Shyuan Kuee, highlighted her company’s ongoing sustainability projects aimed at helping Ipoh move closer to achieving low carbon emissions by 2030.

The forum also featured a networking luncheon, offering attendees a platform to exchange knowledge, discuss sustainable construction practices, and explore potential partnerships.

The success of the forum was made possible by the support of sponsors, including Solar House, RHB, and Renergy Technology, alongside venue sponsors 1 Lasam and BVH.

With visionary leadership and collaborative dialogue, the Sustainable Building Forum 2025 not only inspires action, but also positions Perak as one of the leaders in green architecture and sustainable building practices in Malaysia.
