IPOH: Public speaking is not only a skill but also a way to build self-confidence.

With this in mind, Ungku Omar Polytechnic (PUO), through its Orator Club Armada Sujana PUO, in collaboration with lecturers from the Department of General Studies, organized a public speaking workshop.

The program was conducted in two separate series.

It aimed at students and the underprivileged (asnaf) community to promote the culture of public speaking and to produce a generation that is confident and articulate.

More than 40 student facilitators and PUO lecturers were involved in making this meaningful program a reality.

The first series involved over 100 students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Raja Perempuan, Ipoh, in collaboration with the school’s Language Panel.

Participants were introduced to the basics of oratory skills and engaged in interactive confidence-building activities to help them speak more confidently in public.

The second series reached out to more than 40 residents of the Darussalam Orphan Welfare Organization, Ipoh.

In addition to the public speaking training sessions, the program also contributed RM1,000 in cash and basic food supplies, collected from PUO staff.

Meanwhile, PUO Orator Club advisor and lecturer Muhammad Zaki Yahaya shared that the initiative has been ongoing since 2023.

He said it will continue in stages as part of their social responsibility efforts to equip the community with public speaking skills.
