IPOH: The main road intersection at RPT Pengkalan Pertama is a narrow but busy route, especially during school hours when students are arriving or leaving.
This road serves as a route for residents of nearby housing estates and villages commuting back and forth.
Due to the frequent accidents that occur here, the Office of the Member of Parliament for Ipoh Timor and the State Assemblyman for Tebing Tinggi have submitted a complaint to the Ipoh City Council (MBI).
This is to explore alternative measures that need to be taken to ensure the safety of road users who pass through this area.
Following that, MBI conducted a site visit to assess proactive steps that can be taken to prevent unwanted incidents.
Member of Parliament for Ipoh Timor, Howard Lee, stated that this route is a key road used by residents, especially students from Kampung Pasir Puteh Secondary School.
Therefore, he said, the need to ensure the safety of those traveling in this area should be taken seriously, and a comprehensive solution must be implemented.
“MBI will review and carry out a detailed study to address this issue.
“The initial steps taken include installing ‘stop’ signs and painting road markings as warnings for users passing through this route,” he added.
Users traveling through this route are advised to be more aware of their surroundings and to drive responsibly.
