SERI ISKANDAR: Electrical and electronic waste (e-waste) worth RM31.3 million was seized during a raid on an illegal factory in Parit, near Seri Iskandar.
The seizure was the result of a joint integrated operation (Op Hazard) carried out by the Northern Brigade of the General Operations Force (PGA) together with the Perak Department of Environment (DOE).

Various equipment and materials found at the site are suspected to have been used in the illegal processing of e-waste.
Northern Brigade Commander, SAC Shahrum Hashim, said the illegal facility was located about five kilometers from the main road, inside a palm oil plantation.

According to him, a trailer lorry found at the site contained compressed blocks suspected to be unprocessed e-waste.
“Among the items seized were 81 blocks suspected to be e-waste, weighing 105,300 kilograms, 5,000 kilograms of coal, various e-waste processing equipment, one trailer, and two four-wheel-drive vehicles.
“The estimated total value of the seizure is RM31,337,000.
“Three local men, aged between 36 and 70, were arrested to assist with the investigation,” he said in a statement.
The suspected e-waste blocks were seized and handed over to the Perak Department of Environment for further investigation.
