TANJONG MALIM: A total of 2.3 tonnes of durian was distributed to staff and students of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) during the UPSI Family Day 2025 celebration held recently at Gerbang Suria, Sultan Azlan Shah Campus.

UPSI vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Md Amin Md Taff said the durian feast, along with other local fruits, was more than just a special treat; it symbolised the richness of biodiversity and the spirit of sharing within the university community.

“The gathering is a reflection of our culture of togetherness and a celebration of the blessings we enjoy as one UPSI family,” he said during his speech at the event.

He added that the celebration served not only as a leisure event, but also as a platform to strengthen camaraderie, foster teamwork, and nurture a sense of belonging among the university’s staff and faculty.

“We are all part of one large family of educators. Good relationships among us are key to cultivating a harmonious and productive work culture,” he said.

Md Amin also expressed his appreciation for the collaborative effort led by the UPSI Staff Union Association (JITU), in partnership with the UPSI Women’s Association (PEWARIS), the General Officers Union (KPA), the Academic Staff Association (PEKA), and the Administrative and Professional Officers Association (PRESTASI).

“Despite our different backgrounds and job scopes, when we work together with one heart, the outcome is extraordinary,” he added.

The event also marked the launch of the Integrated Collaboration and Networking System (ICONS), developed by UPSI’s Strategic Department, along with the Occupational Safety and Health Policy (2025 Amendment) under the Risk Management and Occupational Safety and Health Division.

The celebration featured a lively atmosphere with food stalls set up by various faculties and departments, alongside fun-filled family activities that brought together UPSI staff and students from multiple divisions.

“Today we celebrate together, and tomorrow we continue to strive for excellence. UPSI is strong because of the unity of its people,” Md Amin said.
