BAGAN SERAI: Five premises around Bagan Serai were inspected by the Perak State Health Department through the Pharmaceutical Enforcement Branch during an integrated operation.

The operation aimed to take action against the sale of unregistered products and cosmetics that had not obtained approval or registration from the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) via online platforms.

As a result of the operation, a total of 46 types of products were seized, with an estimated value of RM408,880.

The premises involved were suspected of distributing and selling these products nationwide through various e-commerce platforms.

This operation demonstrates MOH’s continued seriousness in responding to public complaints to combat the sale of unregistered products and non-notified cosmetics.

This includes online sales, which have become a common trend today.

Consumers are advised to always exercise caution and not be easily influenced by advertisements or testimonials found on websites, social media platforms, or e-commerce apps.

Individuals or companies found to be involved in the sale of these products and cosmetics will be investigated under the Sale of Drugs Act 1952, which carries penalties including fines and imprisonment.

The public can check the registration status of medicines or cosmetic notifications by visiting the website https://www.npra.gov.my under the “Product Status” section, OR by contacting the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Division (NPRA) at 03-7883 5400.

The Ministry of Health remains committed to combating the supply and sale of illegal medicines in Malaysia.
