IPOH: The Sri Kanthan Kallumalai Kaliamman Temple is not only well-known among Hindu devotees in Perak, but also throughout Malaysia.
On 14 September, the temple will celebrate its annual anniversary, with festivities running from morning until night.
On 13 September, paalkudam activities (milk pot offerings) will be held by the devotees.

According to the Chairman of the Sri Kanthan Kallumalai Kaliamman Temple, G. Thiyagarajan, this year’s celebration holds a unique significance as all nazar (votive offerings) activities will be free of charge, as a measure to ease the burden on devotees.
“The temple management made this decision for the well-being of the devotees.
“We want them to attend with peaceful and joyful hearts, and to fulfill their vows without financial pressure,” he said in a statement.
The temple has a long and respected history, founded by an individual named Kaliamman, who built the place of worship to meet the needs of the local Hindu community.
Thiyagarajan also reminded all visitors to maintain decorum, cleanliness, and dress modestly, in line with the cultural and religious values of the celebration.
“We encourage devotees to wear traditional attire as a sign of respect for the culture and the sacred atmosphere of the event,” he added.
With the long weekend following the celebration, the management hopes that more devotees from across the country will attend and enliven the event.
“Our main focus is to provide the best facilities so that devotees can fulfill their nazar and participate in the celebration comfortably and peacefully,” he further said.
The Sri Kanthan Kallumalai Kaliamman Temple is not only a religious icon in Ipoh, but also recognized across Malaysia for its unique character and vibrant, spirited annual celebrations.
