By Zaki Salleh

IPOH: Several matters, including a focus on development in the Jelapang area, were brought to the attention of the Ipoh City Council (MBI) as part of a long-term plan for the benefit of the people.

These matters were raised by the Jelapang State Assemblyman (ADUN), Cheah Pou Hian, during a courtesy visit to the Mayor of Ipoh, Zamakhshari Hanipah, at his office.

According to Cheah, the visit served as an important platform to discuss various issues and challenges faced by residents in the Jelapang constituency.

“Among them were the preservation and redevelopment of Bukit Kledang, the redevelopment of the Kledang Bestari Centre, and issues related to facilities and maintenance at the Taman Pertama Flats,” he said.

“Other issues highlighted included unlicensed hawkers in the commercial area of Taman Pertama, restructuring of the Silibin night market, and a proposal to develop Jelapang’s commercial center into a halal food hub (Sentral Makanan Halal).

“These are key issues that we will work closely with MBI to resolve together.”

Also present at the meeting were Marc Jeevan Annathurai, Special Officer to the ADUN Jelapang, and Clr. Twoon Kok Kay, a member of the MBI Council.

In the constructive discussion, Cheah said that the Mayor of Ipoh, together with MBI’s directors, expressed their full commitment to continue working closely with elected representatives in efforts to improve the quality of services and the well-being of city residents.

This meeting is seen as a positive step toward strengthening the relationship between local government and elected representatives, ensuring that the voices of grassroots communities are heard and given due attention.
