IPOH: A plateau-type speed bump will be installed along the main road of Jalan Tambun near Taman Tambun, following a finalised discussion with engineers from the Ipoh City Council (MBI) earlier today.
MBI Council Member Chief Whip, Datuk Mazlan Abdul Rahman, said the decision was made after he and the city council engineers conducted an on-site inspection of the area this morning.
According to him, one of the local residents also joined the inspection.
“Today I went to the site at Jalan Tambun following complaints from residents regarding road safety issues in the area.
“The concerns raised included the need for a plateau-type speed bump and additional traffic signage due to the alarming frequency of accidents there,” he said when contacted.
Mazlan explained that during the visit, he, along with the city council engineers and other officers, assessed the current situation on the ground.
“The MBI Engineering Department has agreed to carry out repair and improvement works soon to ensure the safety of all road users, including motorcyclists and pedestrians.
“Tree branches along the roadside will also be trimmed to prevent obstruction of traffic sign visibility.
“Thank you to the concerned residents and MBI for their continued commitment to improving the wellbeing of Ipoh city residents,” he added.
Previously, Ipoh Echo reported that a special site visit was scheduled to be conducted by engineers from the Ipoh City Council (MBI) to Jalan Tambun, near Taman Tambun.
The site inspection was intended to discuss ongoing issues raised by residents and to evaluate the suitability of installing a speed bump in that area.
