BATU GAJAH: A male factory worker from Nepal was killed after he was believed to have been trapped inside a sand grinding machine at a factory near Jalan Changkat Larang, Batu Gajah Industrial Area 3, earlier today.
Acting Assistant Director of Operations for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah, said the 36-year-old victim was performing maintenance on the machine at the time of the incident.
It is understood that the victim was pulled into the machine, which suddenly started operating automatically while he was conducting maintenance to remove stuck materials from the grinder.
“Firefighters opened the floor plate of the grinding machine and found the victim’s body entangled and twisted around the grinder blades.
“A company technician assisted by manually operating the machine and rotating the grinder blades until the victim’s body could be removed.
“Firefighters then lifted the body and handed it over to the police for further action,” he said here today.
