IPOH: The Halloween event Screamfest at Sunway Lost World of Tambun (LWOT) returned this year with the theme “Sihir” (Magic), receiving an overwhelming response from visitors.

In a statement, LWOT said the fourth season of Screamfest combines local myths, ritualism, and Malaysia’s supernatural legends.

According to the statement, the theme “Sihir” aims to revive old folklore and traditional tales in a way that leaves a lasting impression.

“Visitors will experience seven haunted zones throughout the theme park, each inspired by local horror stories.

“These include Misteri Gua Langsuir (The Cave of the Vampire Spirit), Lembah Makhluk Hijau (Valley of the Green Creature), Lorong Saka (The Saka Alley), Jamban Jampi (Cursed Toilet), and Tren Neraka (Hell Train).

“Each zone is meticulously designed with immersive sets, atmospheric lighting, and eerie sound effects,” it said.

The statement added that this year’s concept also aims to preserve cultural heritage through immersive storytelling.

“While Halloween events abroad often highlight Western horror tales, Screamfest takes pride in showcasing local legends and myths — from classic village ghost stories to mysterious tales passed down through generations.

“This cultural foundation is what makes Screamfest unique and exclusive in the region,” it said.

Meanwhile, Sunway LWOT Assistant General Manager, Brian Francis, said Screamfest is more than just a Halloween event — it serves as a platform to celebrate culture, stories, and people.

“This is how we preserve our folklore and reinterpret it for the new generation,” he said.
