IPOH: Perhaps the public can adopt this approach if manholes continue to be repeatedly opened, even after the cables inside have already been stolen.

The method used by one Ipoh resident has certainly caught the attention of many.

In a Facebook post shared by user Jeff Sumardee Ismail, he said that a manhole near Taman Jati, here, where the cables had been stolen, was marked with the words “already stolen.”

According to him, this prevents irresponsible individuals from trying to open the manhole again to steal cables, thereby reducing the number of open manholes and the danger they pose to many people.

“Since my dad wrote this, no one has opened it anymore… before this, people opened it five times already and didn’t even know how to close it back… hmmmm,” he wrote on Facebook.

This method, although it may seem humorous, helps reduce the recurrence of such incidents at the same location and saves many road users from accidentally hitting an open manhole.
