The Malaysia Events and Festivals Association (MEFA), presented a Chinese New Year-themed fashion show at AEON Mall Ipoh Station 18 yesterday.
Called the “Chinese New Year 2026 Fashion Show.”, it featured 11 child models aged between 4 and 12 years old, all of whom participated in the runway presentation.
The event featured two fashion show sessions. The little models confidently showcased a variety of Chinese New Year traditional and creative costumes on stage. Some participants presented two different outfits across the two sessions, demonstrating versatility, creativity, and strong stage presence.
The primary objective of this event was to introduce children to the traditions and cultural significance of Chinese New Year, while providing them with a platform to express their creativity and performance talents.
Through participating in the competition and performance, the children gained greater knowledge of festive customs and cultural heritage, while also building confidence, courage, and personal charisma on stage.
All participating young models received certificates of participation and commemorative medals in recognition of their effort and dedication, as well as to encourage continued involvement in cultural and artistic activities.
In addition, three outstanding participants were honored with the “Best Performance Award” in recognition of their exceptional stage performance.
The event attracted close to 1,000 attendees and received an overwhelmingly positive response from both the audience and participants.
Following the event, the organisers received numerous inquiries and encouraging feedback requesting that similar Chinese New Year cultural fashion shows be organised annually. In view of the strong support and enthusiastic response, the organisers plan to make this an annual festive event to allow more children the opportunity to participate and showcase their talents.
