IPOH: Tourism Malaysia continues to enliven Chinese New Year celebrations at major airports nationwide as part of the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VM2026) campaign.

In Perak, the celebration at Sultan Azlan Shah Airport marked the arrival of flights from Singapore via Scoot and Batik Air, as well as a domestic flight from Johor by AirAsia, with a series of cultural performances.

Passengers were welcomed by Tourism Malaysia Northern Region Director, Abdul Hadi Che Man, along with Tony Wong, Chairman of the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) Perak Chapter, and Wendy Shin Wen Ying, Chairperson of MATTA Perak Chapter.

The arrivals were enlivened with a lion dance performance and distribution of mandarin oranges, a traditional symbol in Chinese culture. Official VM2026 souvenirs were also presented to visitors as a gesture of appreciation and welcome.

The Yee Sang ceremony and exhibition of traditional Malaysian attire drew attention, particularly from foreign tourists.

The official mascots of VM2026, Wira and Manja, appeared in festive costumes and provided interactive photo opportunities for visitors.

According to Tourism Malaysia, the initiative under Visit Malaysia Year 2026 aims to strengthen Malaysia’s image as a safe and culturally rich tourism destination.

The effort also enhances Malaysia’s tourism profile globally, while supporting the sustainable development of tourism and the long-term growth of the sector.
