Sunway’s Sinar Ramadan initiative continues in Perak in support of Kampung Orang Asli Chadak with an evening of festive cheer and distribution of essential aid to the village’s 500 residents.
After kicking off this year’s nationwide Sunway Sinar Ramadan initiative at Pusat Jagaan Impian Syimah in Johor Bahru, Sunway continued its journey in Perak by impacting more than 500 residents of Kampung Orang Asli Chadak with festive activities, distribution of essential groceries and a communal buka puasa gathering yesterday.
Organised in collaboration with Sunway’s long-term non-governmental organisational (NGO) partners; Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF), Yayasan Raja Zarith Sofiah Negeri Johor (YRZS), Selangor Youth Community (SAY) and the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS), Sinar Ramadan reflects Sunway’s continued efforts to uplift underserved communities through festive gatherings and essential aid.
Chairman of Perak State Infrastructure, Energy, Water and Public Transport Committee and former Menteri Besar of Perak Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, representing the Perak Menteri Besar, officiated the event alongside village head Leman Pandak and Sunway leaders including Tan Sri Razman Hashim and Sunway Group president Datuk Anuar Taib.

Adding to the festive atmosphere was Malaysian AIDS Foundation celebrity supporter Shah Shamshiri, who joined residents in an exciting cooking session and participated in the stirring of bubur lambuk.
Children of Kampung Orang Asli Chadak were also treated to games and activities before joining the entire village in the communal buka puasa session.
“The Sinar Ramadan initiative aligns with Sunway’s belief of ‘Doing Well by Doing Good’. Since its inception in 2014, Sinar Ramadan has reached more than 100,000 beneficiaries across Malaysia through festive meals, grocery contributions and meaningful community engagement activities”, said Sunway Group president Datuk Anuar Taib.
As part of Sunway’s #SunwayforGood corporate social responsibility (CSR) umbrella, the Sinar Ramadan initiative has grown into a nationwide effort to uplift underserved communities during the festive season. This year’s programme takes place in several states, including Johor, Sabah, Sarawak, Perak, Penang and Selangor.
The initiative will culminate in a Raya dinner at Sunway City Kuala Lumpur and is expected to benefit more than 300 orphans and their caretakers. The event is expected to be graced by Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, the consort of the Sultan of Selangor.
