IPOH/SEPANG: The arrival of domestic and international visitors to Malaysia was marked by a festive Hari Raya Aidilfitri atmosphere, held in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign, with celebrations taking place simultaneously across nine major airports nationwide.

The main event was held at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1, alongside concurrent celebrations at airports in Selangor, Penang, Johor, Kedah, Perak, Sabah and Sarawak.

In Perak, visitors were warmly welcomed at Sultan Azlan Shah Airport (IPH) in Ipoh, with the presence of state Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee chairman Loh Sze Yee, as well as representatives from Tourism Malaysia, MATTA Perak, the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) and local industry players.

Tourism Malaysia director-general Mohd Amirul Rizal Abdul Rahim said the celebration not only highlights Malaysia’s cultural diversity but also offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy traditional Hari Raya delicacies and receive exclusive VM2026 souvenirs, including murukku and dodol.

The event was further enlivened with Aidilfitri-themed Malay cultural performances, while VM2026 mascots Wira and Manja made special appearances to entertain visitors.

The programme was organised through collaboration among various stakeholders, including Malaysia Airports Sdn Bhd, QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd, Watsons, Gamuda Berhad and Chang Jiang International Sdn Bhd.

At KLIA, about 28 flights carrying an estimated 5,000 passengers from international destinations such as Singapore, Jakarta, Manila, Beijing, Chengdu, Shanghai, Perth, Dubai, Brunei and Istanbul were expected to arrive this morning.

Meanwhile, Ipoh received one domestic flight from Johor Bahru (AK6082) and one international flight from Singapore (TR486) in the evening.

The Hari Raya airport celebrations form part of Tourism Malaysia’s strategy to enhance arrival experiences, promote Malaysia as a culturally rich and safe destination, and strengthen the country’s tourism branding year-round.

With such vibrant celebrations, Malaysia continues to reinforce its reputation as a lively, harmonious and hospitable destination, in line with the long-term goals of the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.
