PARIT BUNTAR:  The Perak government has launched the Pasar Sejahtera Rakyat Perak initiative to help the public obtain essential goods at prices lower than the market rate.

With an allocation of RM3.7 million for 2026, the initiative will be rolled out statewide to ensure its benefits reach the grassroots level.

The allocation covers various forms of subsidised sales across all districts and 59 state constituencies, including rural areas, in collaboration with multiple departments and agencies.

These include Pasar Rakyat Perak by district and land offices, Jualan Sejahtera Rakyat by Yayasan Bina Upaya and Perak State Development Corporation, as well as Jualan Sejahtera Rahmah and Jualan Koperasi Perak Sejahtera.

All efforts are implemented under Phase 1 of Perak’s mitigation measures addressing the impact of the West Asian crisis for the period from April to June 2026.

Earlier, the launch of the Pasar Sejahtera Rakyat Perak was officiated by Menteri Besar Saarani Mohamad at the Kerian District Administrative Complex.

In his speech, Saarani said the subsidised sale of goods is part of the state government’s initiative to help the public cope with rising prices.

“As we face the impact of the global energy crisis, which continues to pressure the cost of living, we must provide real solutions.

“Recognising the rising cost of living due to the global energy crisis, the state government is introducing Pasar Sejahtera Rakyat Perak to help the public obtain basic necessities at lower prices.

“This initiative involves the sale of dry and wet goods at prices at least five per cent lower than local market rates,” he said.

The Pasar Sejahtera Rakyat Perak, organised through district and land offices in each district, will be held regularly on a monthly basis.
