IPOH: Promoting martial arts participation among children from a young age can help nurture physical fitness, self-discipline and social skills while building confidence and character, according to community leaders.
The Shito Kai Ryu Ipoh Karate Club is among the active martial arts organisations in the city that focuses on training and developing young karate practitioners.
In support of the club’s efforts, Perak MIC Youth chief Theeagesh Ganesan contributed training equipment for the club’s students during a handover ceremony held at Tadika Alam Baru.

The contribution comprised karate gloves and body protectors for the use of 50 students enrolled in the club.
Theeagesh said the initiative was aimed at enhancing the quality of training and providing better facilities for young practitioners.
He added that the equipment would benefit students who actively participate in training sessions and competitions, while encouraging greater involvement in the sport.
The club’s founder and coach, Arunajalam, expressed his appreciation for the contribution, describing it as a meaningful boost to the development of karate at the grassroots level.

Also present at the event was Velaidem, chairman of the Resource Centre Club.
The ceremony was held in a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere, reflecting strong community support for nurturing young sporting talent and promoting healthy lifestyles through martial arts.
