TAIPING: The Taiping Municipal Council (MPT) has reminded the public not to leave damaged or unused vehicles in public areas, warning that enforcement action will be taken against offenders.
An integrated enforcement operation targeting abandoned vehicles was carried out following complaints from residents about vehicles being left in residential neighbourhoods and public parking bays.
The presence of abandoned vehicles not only mars the surrounding environment but also affects cleanliness and causes inconvenience to residents.

MPT stated that vehicles identified as abandoned may be towed in accordance with established procedures.
Owners wishing to reclaim their vehicles are required to report to the Enforcement Division at Wisma Perbandaran Taiping.
Under the relevant legal provisions, leaving derelict vehicles, scrap metal, waste materials or other items in public places in a manner that causes obstruction constitutes an offence.
Offenders may be arrested without a warrant and brought before the Magistrates’ Court for further legal action.
Upon conviction, offenders may be fined up to RM500 for a first offence and up to RM1,000 for subsequent offences.
