MBI Demolishes Fence Built Without Approval, on Road Reserve

By Zaki MS

IPOH – Ipoh City Council (MBI) carried out the Phase 3 Enforcement Operation to Demolish Unapproved Structures 2026, involving a fence built on a road reserve.

The operation was conducted after the party concerned failed to comply with an order to remove the structure.

MBI had previously issued a Demolition Notice under the Road, Drainage and Building Act 1974 (Act 133).

The owner was given 30 days to comply with the instructions stated in the notice.

However, after the compliance period expired, the structure had still not been removed.

The demolition action was carried out in accordance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) established by the local authority.

The enforcement operation aims to ensure that development within its administrative area complies with the provisions of the law.

The authority also reminded that unauthorised structures may obstruct or affect the function of road reserves and public facilities.

MBI urged property owners and members of the public to obtain the necessary approval before constructing any structures to ensure that Ipoh remains safe, orderly and prosperous.
