IPOH – The Perak Karate Do team returned from the SUKMA Selangor 2026 Games with an impressive haul, securing two gold medals, one silver, and five bronze medals.
The achievement marks the return of gold medals for Perak in karate after the state failed to win gold at the previous two editions of SUKMA in 2022 and 2024.
Perak’s two gold medals were won by Bagawathi Parimaladevi (Men’s Under-85kg Kumite) and Patrick Jaya Raj a/l Martin Raj (Men’s Under-60kg Kumite).
The achievement reflects the dedication of the athletes and coaching team, who carried out intensive preparations for SUKMA Selangor 2026.
The success is also seen as an important step towards restoring the prominence of karate-do in Perak.
Perak Karate Do Association is led by President Soke K Anathanan, together with coaches Prem Kumar Chinakanoo, Thayalan Rajan Parasuraman and Danesh Anathanan.
The team’s success was also supported by the encouragement and confidence of Perak State Sports Council (MSN) Director, Mazlan Mohamad.
Appreciation was also extended to Fazri Che Li and Puan Siti, particularly for their support and for providing opportunities for the association and coaches to participate in SUKMA Selangor 2026.
The achievement is expected to catalyze developing new talent and improve the performance of Perak Karate Do at future competitions.
Perak Karate Do team now aims to maintain this winning momentum and continue bringing pride to the state on the national karate stage.
