IPOH – Several major roads around Ipoh city will be closed or diverted in conjunction with the 69th National Day Parade on August 31.
The parade will begin at 6.30 am in front of Ipoh City Hall along Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab.
Ipoh District Police Chief, ACP Muhammad Najib Hamzah, said the road closures and diversions would be implemented to ensure the smooth running and safety of the event.
Among the roads affected are Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab, Jalan S.P. Seenivasagam, Jalan Sultan Yusuf and Jalan Dato Maharajalela.
Also affected are Jalan Dato Sagor, Jalan Tun Sambanthan, Jalan Market and Jalan Sultan Iskandar Shah.
Jalan Bandar Timah, Persiaran Bukit Timah, Jalan Leong Boon Swee and Jalan Lahat will also be subject to diversions or closures.
Jalan Abdul Razak towards Bulatan Bahagia will also be closed from the traffic light intersection of Jalan Gurdwara and Jalan Tun Perak.
In addition, Jalan Sultan Idris Shah will be closed up to Kompleks Yik Foong to make way for the parade.
The road closures and diversions on August 31 will begin at approximately 6 am and remain in effect until the event concludes.
Meanwhile, the road in front of Ipoh City Hall will also be closed from August 28 to 30 to facilitate the full rehearsal of the main guard of honour.
Police advised road users, particularly Ipoh residents, to plan their journeys and use alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.
The public is also advised to comply with police instructions and follow diversion signs throughout the road closure period.
