Visit to Home for Handicapped

Y’s Men’s Club of Ipoh members, led by the President K.N. Chandran, made a visit to the Loyal Handicapped and Disabled Children Home Association (Pertubuhan Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Setia) in Taman Grand Silibin Ipoh recently.

“This is part of our club’s Community Service Project (CSP) done regularly to cheer those needy children in such homes,” said Y’s Man K. Letchimanan who organised this visit.

On arrival, members were met by one of the caretakers, Mr Siew Too, his committee members and 38 children (20 males and 18 females) of the home, the youngest being a 3-year-old with cerebral palsy and the oldest, a 53-year-old with Down Syndrome. The other children have various physical disabilities including autism/hyperactive and intellectual impairments.

Club members mingled with the children and to amuse them. There were four children on wheelchairs and they had to be assisted by the workers of the home.

The club donated diapers, rice, Milo, Ovaltine and biscuits to the home. According to the caretaker, the home requires more NGOs to visit these children and donate goodies and other edible items.
