Only MRSM in Perak Reported with Cases of COVID-19 Infection So Far

The People’s Trust Council or Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) confirmed today that to date, only students at Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM) Sultan Azlan Shah, Kuala Kangsar were detected to be COVID-19 positive.

Chairperson of MARA, Datuk Seri Azizah Mohd Dun said her party received reports on infection cases only in Perak so far, and there are no reports involving other MRSM nationwide.

“In Perak, there are 20 students who are still under the monitoring of the District Health Office and are still placed at the hostel, while the rest have already been allowed to return to their respective homes.

She told the media during the launch of Canggih Go Programme and the brand outlet opening in Perak today.

Azizah also advised all MRSM students to abide by the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) set by the Ministry of Health even if fully vaccinated.

She stressed that MRSM students need to ensure their health is in good condition when at home so that reinfection cases when returning to school can be prevented.

“We should ensure the highest level of SOP compliance. Although it is quite impossible to make the pandemic disappear, we should make the best effort,” she stressed.

Meanwhile, she said that there is still a small number of unvaccinated teaching staff members at MRSM.

She explained that the unvaccinated teachers are due to health factors, not rejection of vaccines.
