Spotted Hyena is a New Attraction of Zoo Taiping & Night Safari

Zoo Taiping & Night Safari (ZTNS) will exhibit a new animal, the Spotted Hyena.

The Spotted Hyena or its scientific name Crocuta crocuta is a species that lives in groups and is the largest Hyena species in the Hyena family.

There are four hyenas as the newest attraction there, two males and two females.

Taiping Municipal Council Chairman, Khairul Amir Mohamad Zubir said the Zoo had also received several new animal births between mid-June and November 2022.

“Among the newly born animals are a Stone Cat, a Hedgehog, a Chimpanzee, a Ubi Deer, two Bawean Deer and five Upeh Bald Birds.

“The birth of these new animals is a direct attraction for visitors, especially ahead of the school holidays that have started.

“Zoos are generally the best location for children to get to know wild animals or pets more closely and understand their lives through the information provided,” he said.

Based on the beginning of the year until 30 November 2022, ZTNS has received 796,190 visitors with 706,374 visitors in the morning session which is Taiping Zoo and 89,816 visitors in the evening session which is Night Safari.
