Five focuses have become an important agenda for the state government for 2023, which is considered a vital year.

  • Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad said the five main focuses are the continuation of the Prosperous Perak 2030 which is based on the principle of ensuring that the agenda of the people and the state become joint priorities.

“All the five focuses are key to the important agenda that the Perak Darul Ridzuan State Government will strive to succeed. The five focuses are first to increase the income and competitiveness of the state’s economy.

“The state government hopes that revenue and expenditure targets will be increased to ensure that the state government continues to have better revenue collection so that the implementation of development can be carried out as planned.

“Secondly, strengthen synergy in the delivery system. It outlines three approaches that can be applied by civil servants in the state of Perak in strengthening synergy in the delivery system.

“Third, strive for self-sufficiency and the capacity of the people. The state government has outlined various specific programmes to empower the people to be self-sufficient in the face of an uncertain economic situation.

“In addition to social assistance through welfare departments and agencies, various programmes and initiatives are provided by the government including the provision of the Perak Sejahtera Card, the Perak Children’s Love Programme, the provision of food boxes and housing assistance schemes,” he said in his speech at the Executive Talk and Message Council, Perak Menteri Besar’s New Year 2023 which took place at Casuarina@Meru, yesterday.

He goes on to say that the inclusion of digital initiatives and technology became the fourth focus, as the digitisation aspect is the source of the future economy.

The state government will establish the Perak State Digital Economy Council to determine policies and initiatives related to the digital economy at the state level and monitor the coordination of initiatives between the central government, state agencies and private agencies.

“At the same time, the provision of telecommunications infrastructure is the State Government’s main agenda in providing a smart environment to drive the education, business and government governance sectors.

“The Federal Government has launched the National Digital Interconnection Plan (JENDELA) to improve the communication and broadband access network for the entire state of Perak.

“Fifth, preserve the sustainability of the environment. This core describes that the environmental sustainability agenda needs to be consistent and sustainable.

“Therefore, the environmental conservation measures that are being implemented will continue to be strengthened. Among them are intensifying conservation initiatives, disseminating green technology initiatives, strengthening the waste to energy (WTE) initiative and increasing enforcement measures related to environmental protection,” he said.
