Berlin, Germany – The exquisite craftsmanship of Perak state caught the attention of over 1,000 visitors at the International Tourismus- Borse Berlin (ITB Berlin).

Yana, a visitor from Poland, expressed her excitement at having the opportunity to try her hand at crafting Labu Sayong pottery.

“I am among the fortunate visitors who got to experience making Labu Sayong pottery firsthand. Initially, I thought it would be easy, but it turned out to be more challenging than I expected. The process requires high skill and precision.

“The art of Gold Thread Embroidery also demands dedication and patience. I truly admire the intricacy of this art. It’s a valuable and challenging experience. Perhaps one day I will visit Malaysia to delve deeper into the arts and culture, especially in Perak,” she said while attending the Tourism Perak exhibition booth on the first day of ITB Berlin.

ITB Berlin, spanning three days from March 5th to 7th, brought together 161 countries not only to showcase various tourism products but also to serve as a platform for exchanging ideas among the global tourism industry.

Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Perak, Nurmalis Musa, stated that products like Labu Sayong pottery and Gold Thread Embroidery, representing Perak’s heritage, have captured the interest of visitors from European countries.

“The visitors who come to ITB Berlin are not only seeking information about tourism products, but they are also more interested in product demonstrations.

“It’s evident that visitors are thrilled and impressed by Perak’s artistic products. This is the advantage and uniqueness highlighted to promote Visit Perak Year 2024. It’s proven successful.

“We also introduced eco-tourism products under Belum Rainforest Resort. They provide attractive packages to explore the Royal Belum Rainforest and Temenggor Lake, rich in biodiversity and home to the indigenous Orang Asli community.

“Additionally, Tasik Cermin is a new product that has garnered attention due to its unique limestone cave,” she emphasized in an exclusive statement to Ipoh Echo and Peraktastic.

Simultaneously, Tourism Perak signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Pahang State Government through Tourism Pahang.

According to Nurmalis, this collaboration aims to develop customized tour packages between Perak and Pahang for the European market.

“This collaboration in tourism products between the two states will showcase visits to Cameron Highlands, Pahang, and exploration in Perak.

“This initiative will further strengthen the relationship between the two states and enliven the local tourism industry,” she said.

Present to witness the MOU signing was the Chairman of the State Tourism, Industry, Investment, and Corridor Development Committee, Loh Sze Yee.
