IPOH: The Asasi InnoTech Challenge 2025 (ASIC 2025), organised by Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO), continues to strengthen the role of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in nurturing high-skilled students and supporting Perak’s youth development agenda.
Organised by PUO’s Department of Mathematics, Science and Computer (JMSK), the initiative brought together 112 foundation students from the Engineering Technology programme (Academic Session 2024/2025), who showcased innovative projects combining both software and hardware elements.
Notably, the programme received strong backing from the Perak Menteri Besar, reflecting the state government’s confidence in TVET as a key driver of national development.
The event also aligns with the aspirations of Perak Sejahtera 2030, specifically under the Human Capital and Youth Development pillar.
In a statement, PUO said the competition served not only as a platform for students to present their work but also to gain a comprehensive understanding of research, innovation, and commercialisation processes, while fostering holistic personal development.
Students were guided by academic supervisors and evaluated by a panel comprising industry experts and academics, offering valuable exposure to real-world challenges and professional standards.
ASIC 2025 stands as a testament to how polytechnics can go beyond their role as technical education providers to become innovation hubs, powered by collaboration between institutions and government support.
