IPOH: A total of 720 kilograms (kg) of packet cooking oil, which is a controlled item, was seized from a house that had been turned into a storage facility near Teluk Kurin, Buntong, on Monday.
The Director of the Perak Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), Datuk Kamalludin Ismail, said the raid was carried out following a week-long surveillance operation.
“KPDN officers and enforcement personnel conducted a raid at a house that was being used as a storage site for packet cooking oil.
“A 27-year-old man, believed to be the tenant of the house, had his statement recorded to assist in the investigation.
“Initial investigations found that the individual failed to produce any permit or license for storing controlled goods,” he said in a statement here today.
He added that the packet cooking oil and business documents were seized, with the estimated value totaling RM1,800.
Kamalludin said the case will be investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961 and the Supply Control Regulations 1974.
KPDN also issued a stern warning to any individual or company involved to always comply with the established laws.
Anyone found guilty of committing an offense may face action under the Supply Control Act 1961 (Act 122).
“KPDN issues this warning and stresses that the Ministry will not compromise with any parties found to be involved in the misappropriation or syndication of controlled goods and will ensure stricter action, including prosecution in court,” he added.
