MANJUNG: The Majlis Perbandaran Manjung (MPM) has intensified monitoring efforts against the misuse of road reserve land since April.
The enforcement involves activities such as farming, using the areas as parking spaces and storing personal belongings.
MPM president Muhammad Faizal Shah Safian Suri said notices had been issued to those involved as an initial warning.

He said although some parties claimed they were cleaning or beautifying the areas, reserve land remains public property.
“Unauthorised use may affect the original function of the area and create safety and health concerns.
“Among the identified risks are stagnant water that can become mosquito breeding grounds as well as poorly maintained surroundings,” he said.

As such, MPM stressed that enforcement action would be taken once the notice period expires.
The public has also been encouraged to report any neglected reserve land areas to the council.
Residents were reminded not to turn such land into private gardens, storage spaces or parking areas.
MPM stressed that reserve land is a public space that must be preserved for the common good.
