IPOH: The theft of approximately 100 metres of cable at KM95.8 between Sungai Siput and Kamunting has disrupted the signalling system, causing operational disturbances to train services in the northern sector today.
Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) said the incident was detected in the early hours of the morning by its Auxiliary Police during routine checks at the location.

According to KTMB, the missing cable has affected several ETS and KTM Komuter Utara services operating along the affected route.
As a result of the disruption, several trains were reported to be delayed by more than 60 minutes from their original schedules.
Among the affected ETS services were EP9121, which experienced delays of up to 90 minutes, as well as EX9171, EP9323, and EG9343.

KTM Komuter Utara services were also impacted, including trains No. 2902, 2903, 2904, and 2905.
KTMB takes the cable theft incident seriously as it affects operational efficiency as well as the safety of the national rail system.
KTMB’s technical teams are currently carrying out repair and restoration works to ensure train operations return to normal as soon as possible.
Passengers are advised to obtain the latest travel updates via KTMB’s official social media channels or from station staff on duty.
KTMB also apologised for the inconvenience caused and appreciated passengers’ patience throughout the disruption.
