RAWANG, SELANGOR, 13 June 2026 — Knewton Global Schools Rawang welcomed more than 200 guests to its highly anticipated International Day Celebration 2026 on Saturday, 13 June, kicking off promptly at 9am and running well past 1pm in a celebration that nobody wanted to see end. Parents, school leaders, educators and members of the community came together to witness students from Reception through Year 10 showcase the traditions, music, dance and heritage of eleven countries from across the globe.
“Diversity is not merely something we celebrate once a year — it is the very foundation upon which we build confident, compassionate and globally minded learners. Events like International Day remind our students that the world is rich with perspectives and that understanding and honouring those differences is one of the most important skills they will ever develop. At Knewton, inclusion is not a policy; it is a promise we make to every child who walks through our doors.”
— Dr. Evelyn Chen, Director of Education, Knewton Global Schools
The morning’s programme, held on the school grounds, opened with the National Anthem and a welcome address by Head of Schools, Mr Wayne Harding, before launching into a series of back-to-back cultural performances. Reception students set the tone with an energetic Middle Eastern number, “Yalla Habibi,” while Nursery children enchanted the audience with an Iceland-inspired rendition of “Let It Go.” The performances spanned continents — from Morocco, Egypt, China and Japan to Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Korea and the United States — reflecting the truly international character of the school community.
Head of Schools Mr Wayne Harding expressed his pride in the students’ commitment and creativity. “Seeing our young people bring these cultures to life with such enthusiasm and respect is a reminder of why international education matters,” he said. “This event belongs to every student, teacher and parent who poured their heart into it.”
The celebration was the culmination of weeks of preparation, during which students researched their assigned countries, designed classroom exhibitions, crafted costumes and rehearsed performances. Parents played an integral role, contributing cultural artefacts, traditional attire and hands-on support throughout the process, and their pride was plain to see as they watched their children take to the stage, many unable to hold back their smiles. Adding to the festive atmosphere, all staff turned up dressed in traditional attire representing cultures from around the world. Following the main programme, guests were invited to explore country-themed classrooms and interactive exhibitions that extended the learning beyond the stage. Visitors reserved high praise for the school’s beautiful and well-equipped facilities as well as the warmth and professionalism of the teaching and administrative team, who ensured every guest felt genuinely welcomed throughout the day.
The event was compered with warmth and confidence by student emcees Sanjana (Year 7) and Angel (Year 9), whose poise on stage drew praise from attendees and reflected the school’s emphasis on developing student voice and leadership.
Knewton Global Schools Rawang’s International Day Celebration 2026 stands as a testament to the school’s commitment to nurturing open-minded, culturally aware and empathetic global citizens. The school looks forward to welcoming the community to future events as it continues to champion excellence in international education.
