Garbage pile near Kuala Kangsar tarnishes image of tourist town

By Aida Aziz

KUALA KANGSAR: A heap of garbage bags filled with trash and food waste dumped outside the roll-on/roll-off (roro) bin designated for bulk waste disposal along a main road in the town has become an eyesore.

The rubbish bags, seen perilously close to the main road, have marred the image of Kuala Kangsar—a town well known for its tourism appeal.

Although the Kuala Kangsar Municipal Council (MPKK) has provided the roro bin for the public to dispose of their waste, many people still take a careless attitude, discarding their garbage outside the bin instead.

This unsightly scene has become a common sight for those who frequently pass the area near the MPKK Food Court and Kuala Kangsar Hospital.

However, it may be time for MPKK to consider relocating the waste disposal site to a more suitable location.

This is because the current site is deemed unsuitable for placing a roro bin, especially as the road is busy with foot and vehicle traffic daily.

The situation poses a risk of foul smells and other forms of pollution, worsened by the fact that many still lack proper awareness about responsible waste disposal.
