BANGKOK – The Ipoh City Council (MBI) is expanding its strategic international ties in the tourism and halal food sectors by participating in the Mega Halal Expo Bangkok 2025, held in conjunction with MEGA Show Bangkok from July 16 to 18 at BITEC, Bangkok.

Dato’ Mazlan Abd. Rahman, MBI Chief Whip, said the council took this opportunity to fortify bilateral cooperation.
“Our participation has opened new pathways in international tourism and the halal industry as part of our preparation for the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign,” he said, heading the official MBI delegation at the prestigious event.
Also present were Clr. Muhammad Hamzah Hamdan, Clr. Faidz Ismail and MBI Public Relations Officer Mohd Syahrizal Azmi.

The delegation also visited the Tourism Malaysia office in Bangkok, where discussions focused on showcasing Ipoh’s heritage, eco‑tourism, culinary arts and sports tourism.
A highlight of the visit was a trip to the Muay Thai training centre of ONE Championship world champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon, exploring potential partnerships for combat sports development and sports tourism packages in Ipoh.
This mission is expected to open doors for strategic international collaboration, attract investments in the halal sector, and support Ipoh’s vision of becoming a progressive, sustainable and globally competitive Smart & Sustainable City.
