TAIPING: Conservation efforts carried out by Zoo Taiping & Night Safari have proven successful with the recorded births of several new wildlife species.
These births were recorded between January and June of this year.

Among the most significant arrivals were a Chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes) and a White-handed Gibbon (Hylobates lar)—both primate species that are increasingly endangered in their natural habitats.
Also recorded were the births of three Bawean Deer (Axis kuhlii), a rare and endemic species.
Other breeding successes included two Milky Storks (Mycteria cinerea), one Nyala (Tragelaphus angasii), one Axis Deer (Axis axis), and two Sambar Deer (Cervus unicolor).

In the reptile category, 14 Corn Snakes (Pantherophis guttatus) were hatched, along with the birth of a Striped Skunk (Mephitis mephitis).

Meanwhile, President of the Taiping Municipal Council (MPT), Khairul Amir Mohamad Zubir stated that these births reflect the zoo’s ongoing commitment to biodiversity conservation and sustainable habitat management.
“These births not only highlight the success of captive breeding programs, but also underscore the vital role of Zoo Taiping & Night Safari in contributing to global efforts to conserve endangered species,” he said.
