By Zaki Salleh

IPOH: The official launch of the National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2025 campaign in Perak marked the beginning of the state’s independence month celebrations.

Approximately 5,000 attendees filled the venue at Bulatan Sultan Azlan Shah for the event, which was officiated by Perak’s Chief Minister, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad.

The event aimed to ignite patriotic spirit among the people while calling for continued appreciation and defense of the sacrifices made by the nation’s independence fighters.

A sea of waving Jalur Gemilang flags symbolized the nation’s love and unity on this historic occasion.

A range of exciting activities were also organized to enliven the celebration.

These included government agency exhibitions, Rahmah sales, e-sports competitions, night walks, Merdeka-themed fashion shows, performances by famous artists, and more.

In his speech, the Chief Minister emphasized that every time the Jalur Gemilang is raised, it should be done with proper decorum and respect.

“Don’t fly it upside down, don’t let it become tattered or torn, and if it’s displayed incorrectly, let’s correct it together.

“If someone doesn’t understand, let’s take the time to explain. This is the mark of a concerned and caring citizen,” he said.

He stressed that respecting the Jalur Gemilang is not about race, skin color, religion, or political affiliation, but a responsibility of every Malaysian who understands the true meaning of an independent nation.
